Shot on location in and around Tulsa, Oklahoma, this video documents Jon Moss' last official visit to one of our events, as he retired from GM at the end of 2003. To mark this very special event, Jon brought the original Impala SS concept car with its 510 cubic inch, big block conversion, the 1996 Impala SS six speed conversion, the Coca Cola 600 Impala Pace Car, the Brickyard Monte Carlo Pace Car and the Silverado SS.
John Hughes, Marketing Manager for Chevrolet and GM shows us the new Supercharged Impala SS with 240 horsepower and 380 foot pounds of torque.
You'll see lots of modifications members have been making to their cars, including custom wheels, tires, superchargers, nitrous, Bonneville seats, a Bonneville heads up display, an LCD television on a passengers side visor and much, much more.
Some of the vehicles featured include: Jeff Green's 750 horsepower Impala; Jim Baldino's 388 cubic inch stroker, that he says will get 1000 horsepower without nitrous; Charlie Drain's "fade away flames" Impala; Dave Breiner's 396 cubic inch supercharged Impala that puts out 700 horsepower at the flywheel. You'll also see Dave's white face gauges, for those who are curious to see what they look like. You'll also see Jeff Wendling's supercharged and intercooled Impala with Arizona Speed and Marine headers, which is currently putting out 620 horsepower and is turning 12's in the quarter in the thin air of Denver. George Waddell's Impala with a full black deerskin leather interior, a heads up display from a Pontiac Bonneville and a television screen on his passengers side visor fed from a DVD player.
Some of the vendors that showed up were Norm Landry, who shows you his beefy seat sliders mod that cures the rocking chair syndrome we all suffer from in our cars; Dan Ferraro with Clear Image Automotive (home of the Tri-Y headers); Wendal Karake from the Dye Works, who repairs and dye's carpeting and leather seats; and Ron Hagen from Track Lab who brought a 1200 HP chassis dyno to the event.
We even ran into Dal Slabaugh (Impala Parts Guru) and Dave Scribner from Hunter Engineering. So if you've ever wondered what they look like, now you get to see them.
Chris Lewis tells us what he listens for when judging the Sound Off competition. He also mentions which CD's he uses when judging sound quality (which should help those of you who already have or are considering killer sound systems).
We covered the Autocross event, where you'll see some really good spin outs and then eight people load into Jose Hernandez' station wagon for a run around the course. Needless to say, there's lots of screaming during this weight exceeded run. We also had cameras at the Road Racing Event, where you'll see an almost disastrous spin out. We covered Drag Racing, where you won't see any spin outs, but you will see some very fast 12 second runs! You'll even see a Mustang Cobra owner who challenged ANY Impala on stock tires to a heads up drag race. You'll have to get the video to see who won.
This video also includes a special in-car camera segment from the Hallett Road Racing Course, where we'll share some secrets the track owners say are the best ways to tackle this course. You'll see in car footage of Mike Preszler from the Region of Doom putting down some great laps at Hallett, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour on some of the straight-aways, then braking hard, with tires squealing, as he heads into the turns.
You'll also see dozens of Impala owners from around the country introduce themselves at the awards banquet. So if you've ever wondered about the people whose comments you read on the digest, here's your chance to see what they look like.
We even included the results from the Car Show, Sound Off, Drag Racing, Autocross and Road Racing, so this is a great collectors video for those who attended.
This video is an awesome addition to your Impala Video Collection!
Running time is just under 60 minutes.
